Christine McGuire, Criminal Defense Lawyer

Christine McGuire graduated from Southwestern Law School receiving her Juris Doctor degree in 1977. Christine was admitted to the State Bar of California that same year. After a short time in private practice in Orange County, Christine volunteered with VISTA-Volunteers in Service to America. As staff attorney for legal services, Christine represented clients in Nevada's criminal, civil and tribal courts. Christine began her work as a prosecutor in Northern California in 1980. She litigated misdemeanors and felonies including the case of People v Hooker, a sexual enslavement case. In 1986 Christine relocated to the Santa Cruz County District Attorneys Office where she handled almost every kind of criminal case including felonies, misdemeanors, DUI's, domestic violence, drug cases, sexual assault and murders. In 2005 Christine received a LL.M - Masters of Laws in Intellectual Property Law from Santa Clara University School of Law.

Christine is active in the community. She is a member of the State Bar of California, recent former member of the Board of Directors of the Santa Cruz County Bar Association. Christine serves as Bench/Bar Liaison for the Santa Cruz County Bar Association. Christine serves on the Board of Directors of Women Lawyers of Santa Cruz County and served as Committee Member on the State Bar Committee Women In the Law.  Christine co-founded and served as Chair of the Santa Cruz County Domestic Violence Commission and Santa Cruz County Child Death Review Team. She also co-founded and served as Co-Chair of the Santa Cruz County Domestic Violence Review Team.  Christine is an author and has published Until We Meet Again, Until Judgment Day, Until the Final Verdict, Until the Day They Die, Until the Bough Breaks, Until Death Do Us Part, Until Justice Is Done and Until Proven Guilty. As a former prosecutor of over 25 years, Christine has handled most  every kind of criminal case as a prosecutor and understands how the system works.  As a defense attorney she is committed to providing each client with personalized representation.
