New California Firearms Legislation Effective 2011
Effective February 1, 2011 handgun ammunition vendors must obtain a thumbprint and other information related to handgun ammunition transactions including transfers to peace officers who are authorized to carry a firearm in the course and scope of their duties. This information must be retained by the firearms vendor for five years from the date of the transaction. A violation of this new legislation is a misdemeanor.
