The records of stay-away orders, protective/restraining orders are used to inform police officers and deputy sheriffs responding to 911 calls of the existence of the protective order, the terms of the order and the effective dates of the order. The officer or deputy sheriff, if requested, must serve a protective/restraining order on the party to be restrained at the scene of a domestic violence incident or in custody at the local jail. A physical copy of the protective order issued in a misdemeanor or felony by a criminal court must be transmitted by the court within one business day to a local law enforcement agency authorized by the Department of Justice to enter the order into DVROS.
