CHP Announces Heightened Enforcement Over Thanksgiving Weekend
The California Highway Patrol announced its heightened enforcement effort over the Thanksgiving holiday 2010 weekend. CHP officers will be on the lookout for drivers who are driving under the influence this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The maximum enforcement period commences Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving and continues through Midnight Sunday. The Thanksgiving enforcement period is in addition to law enforcement's state-wide "Click It or Ticket" campaign which began Tuesday and runs through the end of November. California Vehicle Code Section 27315 is the Mandatory Seat Belt Law. Last year officers made over 1000 arrests for driving under the influence over the holiday weekend.
