Santa Clara County Jail's Weekend Work Program
The Santa Clara County Courts identify low-risk offenders such as those persons who have committed misdemeanor crimes and sentences them to the Weekend Work Program as an alternative to jail in Santa Clara County. The benefit to the sentenced person is that he or she does not have to go to jail. The Santa Clara County Department of Corrections oversees the WWP program. Prior to being accepted into the WWP program, the person is screened by the Courts and Probation. A participant in the WWP program pays to participate in the program. Persons accepted into the program serve their sentences on weekends allowing them to retain their employment. More than 50 locations throughout the County of Santa Clara have been established as locations where participants can work.
