Expungements and Filing Fees
The methods for cleansing misdemeanor and felony arrest and conviction records vary depending on the criminal charge and the disposition of the misdemeanor or felony criminal case. Methods may include sealing or destruction of the criminal records, dismissal of the criminal case, certificates of rehabilitation and pardons. In Santa Cruz County a filing fee of $60 is required for all petitions for a change of plea or setting aside a verdict or sealing a record pursuant to Penal Code Sections 1203.4(c), 1203.4a and 1203.45(g). Effective January 1, 2011 the filing fee will increase to $150.
