New Laws Effective 2011

AB 211 requires new construction plans for schools commencing in July of 2011 to include doors that lock from the inside.  AB 211 was enacted because violent incidents on school campuses are increasing at a high rate and most school classrooms, offices and other rooms currently can only be locked from the outside.
AB 20179 requires effective 2012 colleges to publicly disclose their policies concerning sports-related medical expenses, scholarship renewal standards and out-of-pocket expenses that athletes on full athletic scholarships will be expected to pay.
SB 1317 provides that parents who fail to reasonably supervise and encourage their chronically truant child's school attendance after being offered support services can be charged with a misdemeanor and face a penalty of one year in the county jail and a $1,000 fine.
AB 1675 makes it an infraction or a misdemeanor to enter an animal enclosure at a zoo, circus, aquarium or traveling animal exhibit without permission.
