Sex Offender Registration Updating
The Sex Offender Tracking Program at the California Department of Justice maintains the registered sex offender database Registered sex offenders are required to update their information annually within five working days of their birthday. Some sex offenders must update more often. For instance transients must update every 30 days and sexually violent predators must update every 90 days. The Sex Offender Tracking Program keeps tracks of the next required update for sex offenders. If a sex offender is in violation of his or her update requirements, the Internet web site will show the registrant as being in violation of his or her reporting requirements. When a sex offender registrant changes his or her residence or becomes homeless, he or she must update their registration within five days with a local agency. DOJ updates their database daily based on information received from law enforcement agencies. DOJ updates the registered sex offender information on the internet web site on a daily basis.
