Domestic Violence: Restraining Orders Upon Conviction
Posted By Christine McGuire on Jan 16, 2012 3:20pm PST
Effective January 1, 2012, a court may, at sentencing of any domestic violence case, issue a restraining order regardless of whether or not the defendant is sentenced to the state prison or a county jail, or granted probation. The restraining order, if issued, would be valid for up to 10 years, as determined by the court.
