If you plead guilty to a drug-related charge in Santa Cruz County Court, the Court will refer you to enroll in ALTO's Deferred Judgment Program. The ALTO Deferred Judgment Program consists of one intake, ten two hour classes and one exit interview. The focus of the classes at ALTO is drug abuse, education and self awareness. To enroll in the program you must contact ALTO to schedule an intake within 14 days of being granted Deferred Judgment by the judge. Failure to contact ALTO within 14 days wll result in being referred back to the Court. Alto recommends calling for an appointment or coming to the ALTO office between 9:00am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. English classes are provided in Santa Cruz and Spanish classes are provided in Watsonville. The total fee for the Deferred Judgment Program is $705. Payment plans may be negotiated at enrollment. The person referred must fulfill his or her payment plan before the end of the classes. Completion of all interviews, classes and payments are required to graduate from the program. Failure to complete all requirements results in a dismissal and return to Court for final judgment of your sentence. The Santa Cruz location is at 716 Ocean Street, suite 200, Santa Cruz.
