Examples of reportable administrative actions are revocation, suspension or cancelation of a driver license for chemical test failure and chemical test refusal. A pilot/motorist has 60 days from the effective date of any administrative action and/or driving under the influence (DUI) conviction to send a notification letter to the FAA's Security and Investigation Division. Each conviction or administrative action requires a separate notification letter. For instance a pilot/motorist may be suspended at the time of arrest for DUI. In that instance, the pilot must send a notification letter for the suspension and then send a second notification letter if the alcohol related offense results in a conviction.
